Lionel Messi is set to expand his football ownership portfolio by acquiring Spanish second-division club CD Eldense. He has reached an agreement to purchase 100 percent of the shares from the current majority owner, TH Soluciones Group SAS.
This move follows Messi's previous investment in UE Cornella in the Spanish fifth tier earlier this year. The operation to secure Eldense is currently pending the finalization of legal and contractual procedures, including a due diligence process. Mandatory authorization from the High Council for Sports (CSD) is also required.
Eldense, currently 20th in the Segunda standings, were taken over by TH Soluciones Group last October and have recently ascended to the second tier. The club is based in Elde, near Alicante, in the south-east of Spain. A fixed completion date for the deal has not yet been provided.
