Lexi Thompson and Wyndham Clark enjoyed a promising start at the Grant Thornton Invitational, securing the lead after the opening round's scramble format with a score of 55. Their performance faltered in the second round, utilizing the more challenging foursomes format, causing them to drop to third place with a score of 72, placing them at 17 under par.

Following the second day, Thompson shared her perspective on the foursomes format, labeling it "the most difficult" compared to the scramble. She highlighted the stress involved but stressed the importance of maintaining positivity and providing partners with advantageous shots. Despite the challenges, Thompson noted the course still offered birdie opportunities, encouraging patience.

As the tournament progresses, Lauren Coughlin and Andrew Novak have emerged as the leaders, reaching 19 under par. Charley Hull and Michael Brennan are close behind in second place at 18 under. Thompson and Clark are set to compete in Sunday's final round, playing in a four-ball format.
