Leverkusen Striker Faces Medical Hurdles in Milan Move
23 Aug
Summary
- Roma rejected swap deal for Leverkusen's Boniface
- Boniface's knee issues lead to extended medical tests
- Milan close to loan deal with €25M buy option for Boniface

As of August 23rd, 2025, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface appears to be edging closer to a move to Italian club Milan. However, uncertainties surrounding the player's right knee have led to additional medical tests being conducted.
Prior to the potential Milan transfer, Leverkusen had reportedly offered Boniface in a swap deal to Roma a few weeks ago, with the Giallorossi receiving Ukrainian forward Artem Dovbyk in return. However, Roma had doubts about Boniface's physical condition, as he had missed several games last season due to muscle problems. Consequently, Roma rejected the swap proposal.
Now, with the Roma talks having concluded without a sale, Boniface is likely to still make the move to Serie A, unless the extended medical examinations lead Milan to withdraw from the deal. The Rossoneri are currently negotiating a loan agreement with a €25 million buy option for the Nigerian striker, which could bring the total potential fee to just under €30 million.
