- Nawrocki previously played on loan at Hannover 96.
- He made 18 appearances for Celtic, scoring one goal.
French club Lens has announced the signing of Maik Nawrocki from Celtic. The 25-year-old defender is considered an ideal addition for Lens's three-man central defence.
Nawrocki spent the previous season on loan at Hannover 96 in Germany's second division. He did not feature in Celtic manager Martin O'Neill's plans, leading to his permanent transfer to Lens. Celtic had purchased Nawrocki from Legia Warsaw in 2023, but he managed only 18 appearances, with 12 starts, and scored a single goal.
Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca highlighted Nawrocki's tough defending style and comfort on the ball, stating he fits their back-three system perfectly. Leca also noted Nawrocki's imposing figure, athletic power, and aerial prowess, believing he has significant room for growth.
