Summary
- Lens refused to postpone a critical match for Paris Saint-Germain.
- The club cited concerns over competitive integrity in Ligue 1.
- PSG requested schedule changes to aid their Champions League campaign.

RC Lens has unequivocally refused a request from Paris Saint-Germain to postpone their upcoming Ligue 1 fixture, which falls between PSG's Champions League quarterfinal legs. The match, scheduled for April 11, is critical for both teams in their close title race, with PSG currently leading by one point and holding a game in hand.
Pursuing their first French title in 28 years, Lens argues that altering the schedule would put them at an unfair disadvantage. They released a statement expressing concern that the French championship is being relegated to an "adjustment variable" for other clubs' European interests. This is seen as a departure from sporting equity, particularly as PSG is set to host Liverpool on April 8 and travel to Anfield on April 14.
Historically, French football authorities have accommodated PSG's European schedules. However, Lens contends that changing this fixture now would mean a 15-day layoff followed by a demanding three-day match rhythm, disrupting their established season plan. They question the "singular conception of sporting equity" and suggest this preferential treatment favors the wealthiest clubs, impacting the league's overall respect and fairness.
Interestingly, Liverpool also has a fixture on April 11, a home game against Fulham. Furthermore, they will have played Manchester City in the FA Cup just one day closer to their first leg against PSG than the French club's proposed match against Lens. The Ligue de Football Professionnel is expected to make a decision on March 26 regarding the potential postponement.
