Leinster marked their return to the Laya Arena with a victory in the United Rugby Championship, earning their first win of the 2026-27 season. Leinster established an early lead with tries from Hugo Keenan, Jimmy O'Brien, and Jack Conan within the first quarter.
Jimmy O'Brien's second try in the 37th minute secured a crucial four-try bonus point for Leinster before halftime. However, the match saw a dip in intensity after the break, with a notable absence of scoring for much of the second half.
With five minutes remaining, Jamie Osborne extended Leinster's lead, sealing the win. Cardiff, who had a strong playoff performance last season, was unable to secure any points from the match, being held to a single try by Mason Grady.
