Promotion-winning head coach Alfonso Thomas and assistant James Taylor have committed their futures to Leicestershire, signing new deals that will keep them with the county until the end of the 2028 season. The South African Thomas, aged 49, and his assistant Taylor, 36, were the driving force behind Leicestershire's return to the top tier of English cricket.
They initially took interim roles in 2023, leading the team to both the Division Two Championship title and the One-Day Cup in the same year. Following these successes, Thomas was confirmed as permanent head coach, with Taylor remaining by his side.
Director of Cricket Claude Henderson lauded their "massive role" in revitalizing the club. Despite recent struggles in Division One, where Leicestershire is second from bottom, Thomas and Taylor are focused on building strong foundations and pushing the club forward.
