Philadelphia 76ers fans are poised to witness LeBron James in team colors for the first time on Thursday, October 10, 2026. The 41-year-old superstar is projected to participate in the team's road preseason matchup against the Brooklyn Nets. This expected debut follows his absence from the Sixers' preseason opener against the New York Knicks on Monday, October 6, 2026.
James, who recently transitioned from the Los Angeles Lakers, is set to start at power forward for Philadelphia. He has been actively involved in training camp and participated in a recent team scrimmage. The team's coaching staff plans for James and the majority of the starters to play for at least half of the game.
Coach Nick Nurse confirmed the plan on Wednesday, October 8, 2026, stating that starters would play for a half in one of the next two games and potentially into the third quarter in the other. The Sixers are scheduled to travel to Boston on Saturday, October 11, 2026, to face the Celtics, though Jaylen Brown's availability for that game remains uncertain.
