LaMelo Ball Sued for Over $100K in Unpaid Rent

LaMelo Ball, recently traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves, is now entangled in a lawsuit alleging he owes over $100,000 in unpaid rent. The legal action was filed by Agape Property Management Group concerning two condominium units in Charlotte.
According to the lawsuit filed in July 2026, Ball entered an agreement in 2020 to rent the units, previously owned by Cam Newton. The property owners allege Ball agreed to buy one unit in May 2024 but continued to sublet the second to his manager, Jermaine Jackson.
Agape Property Management Group claims that Ball and Jackson fell behind on rent payments. The lawsuit states they collectively owe over $181,500.00 in rent and more than $90,000.00 in unpaid HOA compliance fines.
Ball previously purchased his condo in the Trust building, where he lived, for $2.47 million in 2024. This building was also once home to former Hornets owner Michael Jordan.
