29 Sep
Summary
- Tennessee Lady Vols roster rebuilt via transfer portal.
- Four-star guard Taylor Brown lists Tennessee in top three.
- Recruiting focus is on 2027 class for sustained success.
The Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team is embracing a new era under Head Coach Kim Caldwell. The entire roster from the previous season has been replaced, with Caldwell heavily utilizing the transfer portal to bring in new talent. While this presents a significant challenge, the team has successfully recruited some of the top players available.
Looking ahead, Caldwell is prioritizing the 2027 recruiting class to build a more stable program and reduce reliance on the transfer portal in future seasons. Currently, there are no commits for 2027, but this could change soon.
A significant development in recruiting is the inclusion of four-star prospect Taylor Brown in Tennessee's top three choices, alongside South Carolina and North Carolina. Brown, ranked 18th nationally and second among point guards, recently visited Tennessee and South Carolina, with a visit to North Carolina scheduled for October 3rd. Her commitment decision is anticipated shortly thereafter.
This recruitment is crucial for the Lady Vols, especially after missing out on top prospects like Oliviyah Edwards in the previous cycle, who ultimately transferred to SEC rival South Carolina. The team aims to secure top talent to avoid similar situations.
