Ariana Andonian has been named the new general manager for the Los Angeles Sparks, a move announced on Friday. Andonian, a USC graduate and California native, previously served as GM and vice president of player personnel for the Delaware Blue Coats, the G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers. She steps into the role following the dismissal of Raegan Pebley on July 12.
The Sparks are navigating a critical transition period. The team is set to miss the playoffs for the sixth consecutive season and is currently 15-25. Veteran forward Nneka Ogwumike is retiring after the current season, and guard Kelsey Plum was traded to Phoenix in August.
In her new capacity, Andonian will manage all aspects of the Sparks' basketball operations, including roster construction, player personnel, scouting, and strategy. She will also be responsible for determining the future of coach Lynne Roberts. Andonian's extensive NBA career began in 2015 with the Houston Rockets, followed by a stint as a player personnel consultant for Duke men's basketball, and then four seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies. She joined the 76ers in 2024 before also taking charge of the Blue Coats in 2025. Andonian becomes the Sparks' sixth general manager since the franchise's inception in 1997, with significant turnover occurring in the last seven years.
