Kuldeep Kumar has set a new national record in pole vault, achieving a height of 5.41m. This remarkable feat occurred at the 1st Indian Indoor Open Combined Events held in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
The 21-year-old athlete's jump narrowly surpassed the previous national record of 5.40m, which was held by Dev Meena. Notably, Meena was also a participant in the same event.
Kumar's successful clearance of 5.41m is a significant achievement. However, it fell just short of the qualifying mark of 5.45m for the upcoming Asian Games. Despite this, the young athlete has demonstrated exceptional form.
Earlier in April, Kumar had already secured a gold medal in Jaipur by clearing 5.25m. This earlier performance met the qualification standard for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, showcasing his consistent talent and dedication.
