Kranti Salvi, a remarkable 57-year-old, is redefining active aging with her extraordinary athletic achievements. Despite not having a rigorous athletic background in her youth, Salvi has emerged as a record-breaking marathon runner.
Her running career, which began in her 40s, has seen her complete 24 full marathons, over 100 half-marathons, and ultras. Notably, she has conquered the challenging 90-km Comrades Marathon and all the World Marathon Majors. Salvi's personal best in a marathon is 3:47, and she finished the Comrades Marathon in 2019.
What sets Salvi apart are her Guinness World Records, achieved while running in traditional attire. She set a record in Berlin in 2018 by running a marathon in a nine-yard sari in 3:57:07. Further showcasing her unique approach, she completed the London Marathon in traditional Welsh dress in 2022 (4:03:51) and the Toronto Marathon in 2024 in a Japanese kimono (4:37:31).
Beyond marathons, Salvi also secured a HYROX win in the 55-59 age bracket at the Mumbai championship on May 3, 2025, finishing in 1:51:49. This victory highlights her versatility, as HYROX combines running with strength and functional exercises. Salvi also founded Endurance Revolution, a women's running group in Mumbai, fostering a supportive community for mothers and women.
