Delhi's cricket team is seeking a new coach after Sharma's departure before the 2022-23 season. The team has faced a significant title drought, last winning a domestic trophy in the 2017-18 season. Sharma's coaching experience extends beyond the senior team, having guided the U23 squad and other developmental teams.
Notably, under the current BCCI directives encouraging contracted players to participate in domestic cricket, Virat Kohli might have the opportunity to play under Sharma's tutelage for Delhi. Kohli has featured in a few state-level matches recently, making this a potential reunion.
Meanwhile, Vijay Dahiya, a former Delhi coach who led the team to its last Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy titles, has not applied for the role and is currently involved in commentary. Delhi is set to begin their Ranji Trophy campaign against Bengal on October 11.
