KKR's pace woes worsen: Pathirana out, Sisodia in!
24 May
Summary
- Matheesha Pathirana ruled out for the remainder of IPL 2026.
- Luvnith Sisodia signed as replacement for injured pacer.
- KKR faces third consecutive fast bowling casualty this season.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has announced that Matheesha Pathirana will miss the remainder of the Indian Premier League 2026 season due to a hamstring injury. The Sri Lankan pacer's departure is a considerable setback for the team, especially given their already struggling fast bowling department.
This unfortunate event marks the third consecutive casualty in KKR's fast bowling lineup. The team had already lost Harshit Rana and Akash Deep to season-ending injuries before the tournament began. This depletion has significantly impacted KKR's performance, contributing to a poor start in the league.
Despite these challenges, KKR has brought in Luvnith Sisodia, a wicketkeeper-batter from Karnataka, as a replacement for Pathirana. Sisodia, who previously was part of KKR and Royal Challengers Bengaluru setups without making a debut, has been signed for INR 30 Lakhs. He has played 15 T20 matches, scoring 124 runs.
The Knight Riders are still in contention for the playoffs, contingent on other results and a significant win in their final league match against Delhi Capitals.
