Kim Garth Makes History: Plays for Two Nations in T20 World Cup

Pace-bowling all-rounder Kim Garth has etched her name in the history books of the Women's T20 World Cup. She is now the second player to have represented two different nations in the tournament's history. Garth achieved this milestone when she took the field for Australia in their 2026 edition campaign opener against South Africa on Saturday. This appearance marked her maiden game for the Australian team in the T20 showpiece, though she had been part of their squad in the previous two editions without playing.

Previously, Garth had a notable stint representing Ireland in two T20 World Cups, specifically in the 2016 and 2018 editions. Her accomplishment closely follows that of Kirstie Gordon, a left-arm spinner. Gordon became the first player to achieve the feat of playing for two countries in the T20 World Cup earlier on the same day. She delivered a standout performance with a three-wicket haul for Scotland during their match against Ireland, having previously played for England in the 2018 edition where she claimed eight wickets.
