Free Soccer League Kicks Off for KC Youth

The league commenced on July 11, 2026, at the 9th and Van Brunt Athletic Fields Park, engaging approximately 120 children aged 8 to 10. Participants received complimentary uniforms, shin guards, and Nike cleats, eliminating cost as a barrier.

This CVS Health-presented initiative seeks to elevate youth soccer involvement, with a specific focus on increasing female participation. It also extends support to coaches and referees, bolstering the sport's infrastructure locally.

The decision to host the league in the Northeast was informed by consultations with local youth soccer organizations, identifying areas with the greatest need for free playing opportunities. The recently renovated turf fields provided a practical venue.
