24 Feb
Summary
- Kansas welcomes No. 5 Houston to Allen Fieldhouse on Monday.
- Both teams are coming off unexpected losses over the weekend.
- Kansas holds a 40-0 record in Big Monday games at stake.
Monday's college basketball schedule features a significant Big 12 contest as No. 14 Kansas hosts No. 5 Houston at Allen Fieldhouse. The Cougars, who opened as 1.5-point road favorites, are aiming to avoid a rare three-game losing streak. Houston recently fell to No. 6 Iowa State and No. 4 Arizona, with their usually strong defense struggling offensively in those defeats.
Kansas is also seeking a bounce-back performance after being stunned by unranked Cincinnati on Saturday. The Jayhawks' formidable 40-0 record in Big Monday games is now in jeopardy. Their recent loss saw them shoot poorly from three-point range, and freshman Darryn Peterson's playing time and availability have become a talking point.
This marks a pivotal game for both programs, with Kansas looking to protect its home court and Houston aiming to reassert its dominance. The Cougars have won the last three head-to-head meetings.
