Cornerback Kamauri Whitfield, a three-star recruit from Orlando, Florida, decommitted from the Tennessee Volunteers on Friday. This move opens the door for other programs to pursue the talented defensive back.
Whitfield is currently ranked as the No. 48 cornerback and No. 520 player nationally by Rivals. He has accumulated 81 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, one interception, and 12 pass deflections over his last three seasons. His impressive stats and rankings make him a sought-after prospect.
He holds offers from several prominent schools, including the Oklahoma Sooners, Florida Gators, UCF Knights, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and North Carolina Tar Heels. Whitfield indicated that the Florida Gators are his current frontrunner following an unofficial visit in January.
Whitfield has official visits planned for Florida (May 28), Oregon (June 5), Nebraska (June 12), and Virginia Tech (June 19). He is expected to make a decision after completing these visits.
