The Kalamazoo Wings are set to host a 'Canucks Night' on Saturday, January 10th, celebrating their NHL affiliate, the Vancouver Canucks. This special event will feature the K-Wings taking on the Iowa Heartlanders. The game will showcase newly designed jerseys that pay homage to Vancouver's iconic black skate design, with 'Wings' replacing 'Canucks' and an orca logo adorning the shoulder.
These specially crafted jerseys will be auctioned following the game, with all proceeds directed to the South County Firefighters Association, adding a charitable element to the celebration. The K-Wings have a long-standing relationship with the Canucks, dating back to 1985, and have been their sole ECHL affiliate since 2017.
Several Canucks prospects are currently on the K-Wings' roster, including goaltenders Ty Young and Aku Koskenvuo, along with defensemen Robby Drazner, Derek Daschke, and Jayden Lee. These players have also seen action with the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks this season, underscoring the talent pipeline between the teams. The Canucks' own game against the Toronto Maple Leafs is also scheduled for the same day.
