Olympian Kaetlyn Osmond Reflects on Milano-Cortina Games

Retired competitive figure skater Kaetlyn Osmond, a multi-Olympic medalist from Newfoundland and Labrador, is closely following the current Milano-Cortina Games. Osmond stated that watching athletes compete is significantly more relaxing than participating herself, though she admitted to feeling a degree of jealousy.

Osmond, who competed in the 2014 Sochi and 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, noted that she missed the opening ceremonies on both occasions due to scheduled events. She did, however, attend the closing ceremonies twice, which she found very enjoyable. She expressed excitement about watching Canadian figure skaters Piper Gilles, Paul Poirier, and Stephen Gogolev in their respective events.

Reflecting on athlete comebacks, Osmond, who herself returned to sport after a broken leg in 2014, discussed the difficult decision-making process involved. She is currently pursuing a four-year degree in media studies and creative writing, concurrently coaching and preparing for Stars on Ice.
