Young slugger Junior Caminero is set to represent the Dominican Republic in the upcoming World Baseball Classic. The Tampa Bay Rays third baseman, who achieved the sixth-most home runs in MLB with 45 during the 2025 season, will participate for the first time.
Caminero, a top prospect upon his Major League debut in September 2023, had a strong 2025 campaign, batting .264 with a .846 OPS. He joins a Dominican squad with aspirations of securing their second WBC title, having previously won in 2013.
The Dominican national team, including Caminero, will play exhibition games in Santo Domingo on March 3-4, preparing for the tournament's pool play which commences on March 6 against Nicaragua. The WBC culminates with the final on March 17.
