Summary

Jordan Stolz pre-qualified for all individual Olympic races.
He skipped the 1,500m race to prioritize rest after a subpar 500m.
Stolz will race the mass start and decide on the second 500m later.

USA TODAY Sports spoke with Team USA speed skater Jordan Stolz about his strategic approach to the upcoming Olympic Games. Stolz has already secured pre-qualification for all of his individual races.

He recently chose not to compete in the 1,500 meters event, despite being pre-qualified. This decision followed a 500-meter race where he secured his spot but recorded a time below his personal best, prompting a desire for rest.

Stolz confirmed his qualification for the 1,000 meters and plans to participate in the mass start. The decision for the second 500-meter race will be made based on his physical condition.
