Jon Rahm Ditches LIV Golf: What's Next?
7 Oct
Summary
- Jon Rahm found LIV Golf 2.0 terms unacceptable.
- Rahm and LIV are finalizing a separation agreement.
- His $350 million contract has several years remaining.

Jon Rahm will not be participating in LIV Golf 2.0, as the terms presented were deemed unacceptable by the golfer. His attorney confirmed that Rahm and LIV Golf are working towards a separation agreement, which is expected to be finalized by October 15. This development follows the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia's withdrawal of financial backing for LIV Golf, prompting the league to seek new funding.
Rahm, who joined LIV Golf approximately 18 months after the initial PGA Tour exodus, has a significant remaining contract valued at $350 million. As of the second bankruptcy hearing on September 8, he is understood to be LIV's largest creditor, reportedly owed over $100 million. Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau were considered LIV's most valuable assets for attracting investors, being the only players in the top 20 globally on DataGolf.
Rahm's future plans are now uncertain. While the PGA Tour has a precedent of a one-year suspension for golfers leaving LIV, Rahm could be eligible to return in late August 2027. Previously, he declined a one-time "returning member program" offer from the PGA Tour in January, and recent statements indicate the tour has no plans to reopen those discussions. Another possibility is for Rahm to play full-time on the DP World Tour and re-earn his tour card for 2028.
