Pitcher Joe Ryan delivered a stellar performance on Sunday, striking out nine batters over seven shutout innings to lead the Minnesota Twins to a 6-1 victory over the New York Yankees. This win marked the Twins' first series triumph in the Bronx since 2014.
Ryan has navigated significant trade speculation throughout the season, fueled by rumors from last year's deadline and the team's past offseason moves. Despite this scrutiny, he has maintained focus on his performance and the team's goals, aiming to convince the front office to make additions before the August 3rd trade deadline.
In other team news, Byron Buxton exited Sunday's game due to a recurrence of his hip injury, raising concerns about his availability. Meanwhile, the Twins have acquired pitcher Woo-Suk Go from the Detroit Tigers on a minor-league contract. The team's offense has also been a key factor, excelling with two outs and runners in scoring position, notably with clutch hits from Josh Bell and Royce Lewis.
