Espada Out: Astros Transition After 3 Seasons

The Houston Astros are entering a new era after parting ways with manager Joe Espada, whose contract was not renewed. Espada's three-season tenure as manager, from 2024 to 2026, saw the team clinch the American League West division title twice. This decision comes after the club also saw general manager Dana Brown depart in August 2026, marking a significant organizational shift.

During Espada's time at the helm, the Astros did not achieve a losing record, though they did not surpass 90 wins in any season. His managerial career began with a unique no-hitter win by Ronel Blanco on April 1, 2024. The team experienced postseason appearances, including a sweep loss in his first playoff outing and a missed postseason in 2025, before returning in 2026 with an .500 record. Espada expressed gratitude to the organization, players, coaches, staff, and fans in a departing message shared on social media.
