Jets' QB Dilemma Continues as Fields Struggles, Taylor Waits in the Wings
12 Nov
Summary
- Jets' QB room clouded by uncertainty since Fields' benching in Week 7
- Fields' disappointing Week 10 performance leaves coach Glenn tight-lipped on starter
- Veteran Taylor waiting in the wings as potential replacement for struggling Fields

As of November 12, 2025, the New York Jets' quarterback situation continues to be shrouded in uncertainty. The team's first-year coach, Aaron Glenn, has been tight-lipped about his plans at the position, refusing to name a starter for the upcoming "Thursday Night Football" game against the New England Patriots.
The uncertainty began in late October when Fields, the Jets' starting quarterback for most of the season, was benched during a Week 7 loss to the Carolina Panthers. While many expected veteran Tyrod Taylor to take over as the starter in Week 8, an injury to Taylor complicated the decision.
Despite a strong start by Fields in the Jets' first win of the season, Glenn did not immediately declare him the team's Week 10 starter coming out of the bye. Fields then struggled mightily in the Jets' Week 10 victory, throwing for just 54 yards, with 42 of those coming on a short pass that was run in for a touchdown.
With the short turnaround for the Patriots game, it remains to be seen whether Glenn will stick with the inconsistent Fields or turn to the 36-year-old Taylor, who has made starts for seven different teams in his career. The Jets' quarterback room has been a source of uncertainty for the past month, and the situation appears far from resolved as the team prepares to face their division rival.
