Jerry Azumah, a standout running back for the University of New Hampshire from 1995-98, has been selected for the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame Class. This prestigious honor marks a significant milestone, as Azumah becomes the first player in Wildcat history to be inducted, and the second person overall, following his coach Bill Bowes who was enshrined in 2016. Azumah's remarkable college career included setting multiple FCS records.
Azumah's record-breaking achievements at UNH include 6,193 rushing yards and 8,376 career all-purpose yards, making him the first player in FCS history to rush for over 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. He also holds numerous school records for single-game and career rushing yards, carries, and touchdowns. His collegiate success earned him a spot in the UNH Athletics Hall of Fame in 2005.
Following his illustrious college tenure, Azumah was drafted by the Chicago Bears and played seven seasons in the NFL as a defensive back and kick returner, even earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2003. The 2026 Hall of Fame Class will be celebrated at the NFF Annual Awards Dinner in Las Vegas, with further recognition at their alma maters and the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
