Sharks Waive Jeff Skinner: Contract Terminated
17 Feb
Summary
- Jeff Skinner's contract is being terminated by the San Jose Sharks.
- He will be a free agent after clearing waivers.
- Skinner has struggled to meet expectations this season.

The San Jose Sharks have initiated the process to terminate forward Jeff Skinner's contract by placing him on waivers. This action, reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, means Skinner will be eligible to sign with any NHL team once the waiver period concludes and the termination is finalized.
The Sharks had signed Skinner to a one-year deal worth $3 million during the offseason. However, his performance has not met expectations, with only six goals and seven assists recorded in 32 games played this season.
Despite a career averaging 28 goals and 25 assists per 82 games over 16 seasons, Skinner's offensive output has seen a decline in recent years. He scored 35 goals in the 2022-23 season and 24 goals in the 2023-24 season before being bought out by the Buffalo Sabres. Last season with the Edmonton Oilers, he managed 16 goals.
