James Rodriguez, a former Real Madrid midfielder, has made a move to Colombian side Atletico Nacional. This transfer marks the 14th club of his extensive career and the sixth team he has joined since the start of 2023. The Medellin-based club officially announced the arrival of the Colombian national team captain on Friday.
Rodriguez, 35, concluded his contract with Major League Soccer (MLS) team Minnesota United in June. He had joined Minnesota from Mexican club Club Leon in February, making eight appearances without scoring.
Despite a turbulent period with various clubs since 2023, including Olympiacos, Sao Paolo, Rayo Vallecano, Club Leon, and Minnesota, Rodriguez has maintained his status as a regular for the Colombian national team. He notably captained his country in all five of their World Cup matches during the recent tournament, scoring 31 goals in 131 international appearances.
