Summary
- Jalen Williams sidelined with hamstring issue, missing playoffs.
- OKC is favored to win Finals and sweep Lakers without Williams.
- Thunder depth allows them to win games without their star player.
Oklahoma City Thunder's Jalen Williams remains sidelined for the second round of the NBA Playoffs due to a hamstring issue, ruling him out of Game 4 against the Los Angeles Lakers. This is a recurrence of a problem that also saw him miss time during the regular season, indicating a cautious approach from the team.
The Thunder are strong favorites to win the NBA Finals, with odds reflecting their dominant performance this season. They are heavily favored to sweep the Lakers in their current series, despite Williams's absence.
OKC has demonstrated remarkable depth, winning games by substantial margins even without their All-NBA wing. This resilience suggests their playoff success is not solely dependent on Williams's presence.
There is a possibility Williams could return for the Western Conference Finals, depending on the progression of his injury and the timing of that series. The team went 5-0 in games without him in the current playoffs, highlighting their ability to perform at a high level regardless of his availability.
