- Reunites with coach Ben Johnson, former Lions offensive coordinator.
- Veteran linebacker brings special teams expertise to Chicago.

Veteran linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin has officially joined the Chicago Bears' practice squad, a move finalized on Tuesday. He brings a wealth of experience, having served as a multi-year captain for the Detroit Lions and reuniting with Bears head coach Ben Johnson, his former offensive coordinator in Detroit. Reeves-Maybin's leadership and skills were instrumental in the Lions' recent successes, especially on special teams, earning him accolades like Second Team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors.
Reeves-Maybin's tenure with the Lions was impacted by injuries, notably a neck injury that sidelined him for a significant portion of the previous season. Despite this, he boasts extensive NFL experience, playing in 114 games throughout his career. His journey includes his beginnings as a fifth-round pick by the Lions in 2017, a stint with the Houston Texans, and a return to Detroit, where he signed a contract extension before his injury.
Released by the Lions in the offseason to manage salary cap space, Reeves-Maybin remained a free agent until this signing. His addition comes as the Bears are managing linebacker T.J. Edwards' injury status. Beyond his on-field contributions, Reeves-Maybin is also recognized for his off-field leadership as the current NFLPA president.
