Jake Browning, formerly of the University of Washington, has signed a one-year contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a backup quarterback. This move significantly increases the number of former Husky players on the Buccaneers' roster, with Browning joining five or six ex-teammates. The distance between Seattle and Tampa Bay is over 3,000 miles, requiring a substantial journey to connect the two football hubs.
Browning will be reunited with former UW teammates Cade Otton, Devin Culp, Vita Vea, and Greg Gaines. He previously played for the Minnesota Vikings from 2019 to 2021 and then with the Cincinnati Bengals from 2022 to 2025. During his time with the Bengals, Browning stepped in for an injured Joe Burrow in 2023, leading the team to a 4-3 record and achieving notable moments, including a comeback victory against his former team, the Vikings.
