One significant addition is running back Chris Rodriguez Jr., the Jaguars' only major free agent acquisition. While his signing has not garnered widespread attention, Jeff Howe of The Athletic highlights Rodriguez Jr. as the team's most intriguing newcomer. Howe emphasizes the strong relationship between Rodriguez Jr. and Jaguars head coach Liam Coen, forged during their time together at the University of Kentucky.

Coen's positive history with Rodriguez Jr. suggests the running back could be given a substantial role within the Jaguars' offense. Rodriguez Jr., a former sixth-round pick, recorded 920 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns over three seasons with the Commanders. His ability to bring a power running style, which was lacking in 2025, is expected to be a valuable asset.

Rodriguez Jr. was anticipated to compete for the starting running back position. However, an injury sidelined him during OTAs and minicamp, giving Bhayshul Tuten an advantage.
