Summary
- Jaguars GM James Gladstone discusses QB Trevor Lawrence's development
- Lawrence showed signs of growth in training camp and preseason
- Gladstone believes Lawrence can live up to his pre-draft hype

With the Jacksonville Jaguars' season opener against the Carolina Panthers just two weeks away, the team's general manager, James Gladstone, has expressed his excitement about the development of quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Gladstone, who spoke to the local media for the first time since the summer, discussed Lawrence's performance throughout the offseason program, training camp, and the preseason. The GM noted that Lawrence has done an excellent job operating within the new offensive system under head coach Liam Coen, maintaining consistency and pushing himself to the limits.
"Absolutely jacked at the progression we saw from the offseason program to now where we're at through three preseason games and on the horizon of the regular season," Gladstone said. He explained that Lawrence has been able to tap into his footwork, progressions, and decision-making, becoming a better passer than he has ever been before.
The Jaguars' first-time GM was particularly impressed by Lawrence's work ethic and the "jaw-dropping throws" he made during training camp and the limited preseason action. Gladstone believes that Lawrence, who is entering a critical fifth year in the league, has the potential to live up to the "generational passer" label given to him during the 2021 NFL Draft.
With the team's roster set and the focus now on the season opener, the Jaguars are hoping that Lawrence's development will translate into success on the field. Gladstone and head coach Coen have been tasked with rebuilding the franchise quarterback, and the real test begins in less than two weeks.
