Cavaliers Star Guard Joins Lakers Summer League Squad

Virginia Cavaliers guard Jacari White is set to join the Los Angeles Lakers on a Summer League contract. White spent his final collegiate season with Virginia after stints at North Dakota State and State College of Florida. He was a key reserve for the Cavaliers, averaging 9.4 points per game and leading the team in three-pointers made with 69 and a 43.4 percent three-point shooting average. This remarkable shooting display helped Virginia rank second in the ACC for three-point makes.

White's performance included scoring at least 10 points in 14 games and averaging 18 points during the NCAA Tournament. He also set a program record for consecutive threes made, surpassing Kyle Guy's previous record. Beyond his shooting, White showed an ability to drive to the basket and execute powerful dunks.

The Lakers have been active in filling their Summer League roster, having already signed several other players on two-way and Exhibit 10 contracts. White and these other new additions will compete for a spot on the Lakers' Summer League team and potentially roles with the G League affiliate. Virginia's other former players, such as Malik Thomas, Dallin Hall, and Devin Tillis, may also find opportunities in Summer League action.
