Irish Dominate Lions Lineup for Crucial Second Test Against Wallabies
24 Jul
Summary
- 9 Irishmen, 7 from Leinster, in Lions starting lineup
- Garry Ringrose withdraws due to concussion
- Bundee Aki starts in midfield with Huw Jones

Ahead of the second Test between the British and Irish Lions and the Wallabies this Saturday in Melbourne, Lions coach Andy Farrell has named a starting lineup featuring a strong Irish contingent. Nine Irishmen, including seven from Leinster, will take the field for the crucial match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Garry Ringrose had originally been selected to start, but the Irishman withdrew himself from the team after feeling concussed at the end of training on Thursday. Ringrose had also missed out on selection for the first Test due to a head injury. In his place, Bundee Aki will start in the midfield alongside Huw Jones, who is returning to his home city of Melbourne.
The Lions will be looking to secure a series victory over the Wallabies after winning the first Test last Saturday. Farrell has opted for the same back-row that performed well in the previous match, with Ollie Chessum partnering Maro Itoje in the second row. The front row features an all-Irish trio of Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan, and Tadhg Furlong.
