Iran Team Gets US Visas for World Cup Matches

The Iranian national football team has officially received visas to compete in the World Cup 2026 matches hosted by the United States. This development follows earlier reports of visa denials for numerous members of the team's staff, including executive director Mehdi Kharati and media director Mohsen Motamedkia. The Iranian embassy in Turkey had criticized this as discriminatory treatment.

Originally slated to be based in Arizona, Iran's participation in the tournament had been uncertain due to security concerns related to the Middle East conflict. Despite initial reservations from US President Donald Trump, the team will now set up camp in Tijuana, Mexico. Their opening match against New Zealand is scheduled for June 15 in Los Angeles.
