Team manager Ritchie Hawkins has announced his departure from Ipswich Witches after a successful 10-year tenure, a decision prompted by promoter Chris Louis' plan to sell the club. Hawkins stated his full support for Louis' choice, understanding the considerable deliberation involved. He reflected on the significant progress the Witches have made during his time, noting that the club is among the best run and supported in the country.

The departure comes in the wake of the Witches winning their first league title in 27 years, defeating Leicester Lions in the final. Despite this recent success, the overall landscape of the speedway league appears increasingly precarious. Concerns are amplified by other clubs, such as Sheffield Tigers, also being up for sale, and the closure of Birmingham Brummies, leaving only five teams confirmed for the 2026 season.

Hawkins expressed his personal difficulty in leaving a club where he has spent a considerable amount of time and formed many friendships.
