A total of 350 cricketers, including 240 Indians, are set to go under the hammer at the IPL auction in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16. Notably, South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock was a late addition to the final list. Initially, 1,390 players registered, which was later narrowed down to 350 for the franchises to bid on.
The auction will commence with Indian batters Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan, both holding a base price of Rs 75 lakh. Several international stars, including Australia's Cameron Green and Jake Fraser-McGurk, New Zealand's Devon Conway, and South Africa's David Miller, have set their base price at Rs 2 crore. With franchises facing limited budgets and needing to fill numerous slots, attention is also keenly focused on promising Indian uncapped players.
Several uncapped Indian talents are poised to attract significant bids. These include left-handed batter and spinner Prashant Veer, fast bowler Auqib Nabi with improved death-over skills, left-arm wristspinner Krains Fuletra, wicketkeeper-batter Ravi Singh, and big-hitting lower-order finisher Kartik Sharma. These players, with base prices often starting at Rs 30 lakh, represent potential value for teams looking to build a strong squad for the upcoming IPL season.
