IPL Auction Shockers: Top Players Miss Out
9 Dec
Summary
- 350 players shortlisted for IPL 2026 auction in Abu Dhabi.
- 1390 players initially registered, list pruned significantly.
- Several high-profile and emerging players were surprisingly excluded.

The stage is set for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) auction, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. A total of 350 players have been shortlisted by franchises from an initial pool of 1390 registered names, following team retentions.
The curated list features prominent cricketers alongside emerging talents, but it has also generated surprise due to the exclusion of several well-regarded players. Notable absentees include South African batter Rassie van der Dussen and wicket-keeper N. Jagadeesan, whose recent form and experience were expected to secure them a spot.
Other unexpected omissions include uncapped Indian batter Rasheed and promising West Indian pacer, who impressed in recent Test series. New Zealand's Chapman, despite a strong T20 record, also did not feature in the final player pool.
