Running back Isaiah Hansen has claimed the top spot as the No. 1 recruit for the Iowa State Cyclones' Class of 2027. He succeeds wide receiver Chuck Alexander, who initially committed to the Cyclones before flipping to another program. Hansen, an in-state standout from Newton High School, is now recognized as a four-star prospect with a rating of 89.27. He committed to Iowa State early in the recruiting cycle, holding an offer from San Diego State and later receiving a Power 4 offer from Wake Forest. Hansen's performance at recent camps, including being named running back MVP at the UnderArmour camp in St. Louis last March, has increased interest.
During his junior season, Hansen led Newton High School to 10 wins, rushing for 1,337 yards and 18 touchdowns, and adding 216 receiving yards and a score. The Cyclones' Class of 2027 currently comprises 24 players and is ranked 49th nationally and 6th in the Big 12. The team boasts an average rating of 86.38, potentially the highest since the Class of 2022. Offensive lineman Will Slagle is another notable prospect within the top 500 nationally, with potential to achieve four-star status.
