Iowa Offers Chicago Safety Prospect

The Iowa football program has extended a scholarship offer to highly-touted 2027 safety prospect Darrell Mattison. Mattison, a 6-foot-2, 160-pound player from Morgan Park High School in Chicago, Illinois, received the offer on January 15. As of January 16, he remains unranked by major recruiting sites. Mattison's recruitment is gaining momentum, with 15 offers already in hand from institutions such as Iowa State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Michigan, and Minnesota. He is scheduled to attend Illinois' Junior Day on January 17, despite not yet receiving an offer from the Fighting Illini. Furthermore, he has an unofficial visit planned for Iowa's Junior Day festivities on January 31. While the Hawkeyes face competition, their interest in Mattison highlights his potential as a future key player in their defensive secondary.
