Iowa Football Honors Ex-Patriot Mike Elgin

Iowa football has announced Mike Elgin as the honorary captain for their upcoming Week 3 game against Northern Iowa. Elgin, a former offensive lineman for the Hawkeyes from 2004 to 2006, earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors in his final season.

Following his collegiate career, Elgin was drafted by the New England Patriots in the seventh round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts before concluding his professional football career. Elgin will now return to Iowa City to be part of the game day experience.

As honorary captain, Elgin will participate in the coin toss ceremony at midfield and will be with the team in the locker room. He becomes the third honorary captain named by the Hawkeyes this season, following Sedrick Shaw and C.J. Beathard. The game is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. CT at Kinnick Stadium.
