Inter's Double: Chivu's Humble Genius Shines

Inter Milan secured their third domestic double on Wednesday night with a commanding 2-0 victory over Lazio in the Coppa Italia final. The match was effectively decided by the 35th minute, showcasing Inter's superior quality.

Cristian Chivu, Inter's head coach, chose to remain out of the spotlight following the win, highlighting his team and coaching staff. His focus, even after securing the league title earlier this month, remained on preparation and team performance, demonstrating a selfless approach to management.

Lazio's path to the final was fraught with difficulties. The team faced a transfer embargo and sold key players, significantly impacting their season. This context underscores the significant gap in quality observed during the match.

Chivu's managerial journey has been notable. He inherited a team that underperformed the previous season and has now achieved a domestic double in his first year, a feat matching legendary managers Roberto Mancini and José Mourinho in their initial seasons with the club.

Reflecting on the season, Chivu pointed to a crucial team meeting in June of last year after the Club World Cup elimination. He described finding a squad ready to commit to the team's objectives, a turning point that laid the foundation for their success.

The coach's humility stems from personal experience, including a severe skull fracture during his playing career. This perspective informs his approach to leadership, prioritizing the team above individual accolades.

Chivu's early career in Inter's academy provided invaluable lessons, having worked his way up through the youth system. He emphasized that winning two trophies is never simple, regardless of how effortless it may appear.
