India's Batting Order Shuffle for SL Test

India and Sri Lanka are set to begin their two-match Test series on August 15, with the opening encounter scheduled for Galle. This series holds significant importance for the Indian team as they strive to maintain their position in the World Test Championship (WTC) race.

The selection of India's playing XI for the first Test has become a focal point. Head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill recently evaluated the full squad during a warm-up game against Sri Lanka Cricket XI. Key decisions have been made regarding the batting lineup.

It is anticipated that Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul will open the batting. Rahul showed promising form, scoring 40 in the first innings of the warm-up, while Jaiswal impressed with a second-innings century after a brief failure. Devdutt Padikkal appears to have solidified his spot at number three, having scored an unbeaten 142 in the first warm-up innings. He was chosen after Sai Sudharsan was unfortunately ruled out of the series with a stress fracture in his right toe.
