India's Historic Day: 6 Medals & Boxing Glory

India celebrated a remarkable Day 9 at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, achieving its largest medal haul of the event with six new medals. Historic triumphs were recorded in judo, where Asmita Dey won gold in the women's 48kg and Harsh Singh became the first Indian male judoka to secure a Commonwealth Games gold in the men's 60kg. Yamini Mourya also contributed a silver medal in women's 57kg judo.

Athletics also saw significant success, with Tejaswin Shankar winning bronze in the decathlon, marking another historic achievement. The men's javelin competition featured a double podium for India, as Neeraj Chopra claimed silver and Yash Vir Singh secured bronze. India's mixed 4x400m relay team also qualified for the final.

Boxing showcased perfection, as all ten of India's semi-finalists secured victories, guaranteeing them at least silver medals and advancing to the gold medal bouts.
