On November 13, 2022, the Indiana Hoosiers defeated the Incarnate Word Cardinals 69-61 in a non-conference matchup. Indiana's Sam Alexis led the way with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting and 8 rebounds. Tucker DeVries added 14 points for the Hoosiers, while Trent Sisley chipped in 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Incarnate Word's Tahj Staveskie scored 11 of his 17 points in the final 7 minutes, but it wasn't enough to overcome a slow start. Davion Bailey, who led the Southern Conference in scoring last season, struggled mightily, shooting just 3-of-18 from the field and finishing with 10 points.
Indiana used a 20-2 run in the first half, capped by a Sisley 3-pointer, to build a 31-14 lead. Incarnate Word shot just 21% in the first half and trailed 35-19 at the break. The Cardinals made a late push, cutting the deficit to 6 points, but the Hoosiers held on for the 8-point victory.
With the win, Indiana improves to 4-0 on the season, while Incarnate Word falls to 2-1.
