Medical reports indicate that Sanyal suffered from muscle cramps and dehydration during his attempts to cut weight. According to a translated Japanese medical document, he experienced dizziness, lightheadedness, and cramps approximately 30 minutes after a sauna session. Sanyal was a late addition to the Indian MMA contingent.
Meanwhile, another Indian MMA athlete, Suchika Tariyal, has advanced successfully. Tariyal secured a medal for India by winning her quarter-final bout in the women's traditional 60kg event and moving on to the semi-finals.
