Illini Stun Oregon with Backup QB in Upset Win

Illinois secured a significant 21-10 upset victory against Oregon on Saturday, with freshman quarterback Michael Clayton II leading the charge in his first career start. The Illini's defense delivered a standout performance, holding the Ducks scoreless throughout the second half.

Key plays included a crucial 75-yard touchdown run by running back Aidan Laughery late in the first half, which helped shift momentum. In the third quarter, a strategy involving both Clayton and backup quarterback Carson Boyd proved effective, culminating in a go-ahead touchdown pass from Clayton.

Oregon, which entered the game with a strong defensive record, struggled offensively and missed multiple field goal attempts, including two in the crucial fourth quarter. This victory snapped Illinois' three-game losing streak to Oregon and marked a significant moment for the team's season.
